Who is Unusual Heat?  He is a big, beautiful, black 19 year old stallion who stands at Old English Rancho in
Sanger, California.  He was a fine racehorse who has had an even better career as a stallion.

So enjoy our tribute to California's finest stallion and the next time you are at the racetrack, just remember to

All time single year record holder for California stallion progeny earnings with $5,827,513 in 2008.
One of only two sires in California history to have progeny earnings of over $5 Million for a single year
and ties the record set by Cee's Tizzy of doing it twice (2008 and 2009).

Lethal Heat Wins 2009 Older Female Cal Bred of The Year
  • After a 2009 that saw 2 Grade 1, 2 Grade 2 and a Cal Cup Classic placement, Lethal Heat was voted as 2009 Cal Bred Older Female of The Year
    by the CTBA and its membership.  It is the 2nd California Championship for the 5 year old bay lass who also captured the 2008 Cal Bred 3 Year
    Old Filly of the Year Award.  Owned by breeders Madeline Auerbach and Barry Abrams along with partner Ron McCauley, Lethal Heat has earned
    $655,988 in her storied career for trainer Barry Abrams. Lethal Heat is currently being pointed towards a summer-fall campaign in 2010.
  • Grade 2 winner Pretty Unusual gave a game effort and finished a close 3rd in the Sunshine Millions Filly Mare Turf at Santa Anita Park (1-30-10).
  • Unusual Smoke gets new black type with an impressive 3rd place finish in the Sunshine Millions Classic at Santa Anita Paek (January 30, 2010)
  • Ballistic Heat with a Claiming Stakes win at Sunland Park in New Mexico (January 30, 2010). It's win #8 for the 7 year old black gelding.
